Fixing Lumps and Asymmetry After Penis Enhancement

· 5 min read

Lumps, bumps, and uneven results are the most common complaints after filler enhancement. If you’re dealing with these issues, you’re probably wondering: can this be fixed, and how?

The short answer is yes, usually. The approach depends on what caused the problem and what you’re working with.

Understanding What You’re Dealing With

Types of Lumps

Not all lumps are the same, and different types respond to different treatments:

Early swelling lumps: In the first few weeks after treatment, what feels like lumps may just be uneven swelling that will resolve on its own. True assessment should wait until initial swelling subsides.

Product accumulation: Filler that collected in certain spots rather than distributing evenly. This often responds well to massage early on, or dissolution later.

Nodules: More organized lumps where filler has formed a distinct mass. These typically need active treatment—they won’t resolve spontaneously.

Granulomas: Inflammatory reactions to the filler material. More common with permanent fillers but can occur with any product. These are inflammatory nodules that may be tender.

Scar tissue: The body’s healing response can create firm areas. This is tissue, not filler, and responds differently to treatment.

Types of Asymmetry

Uneven injection: More filler on one side than the other from the original procedure.

Migration: Product that started even but shifted over time, creating imbalance.

Differential absorption: If some filler was absorbed or dissolved unevenly, asymmetry can result.

Treatment Options

For Hyaluronic Acid Filler Issues

The good news: HA filler complications are highly treatable because the product can be dissolved.

Massage: In the early weeks, gentle massage can sometimes redistribute filler that hasn’t fully settled. Your provider should guide you on whether and how to massage. Done incorrectly, massage can make things worse.

Hyaluronidase dissolution: The enzyme hyaluronidase breaks down hyaluronic acid. It can be injected precisely into lumps or nodules to dissolve them. This is the primary treatment for HA-related lumps and asymmetry.

Dissolution can be targeted to specific areas or used more broadly. For asymmetry, sometimes the solution is dissolving the overfilled side to match the other rather than adding more to the underfilled side.

Multiple sessions might be needed. Dissolution isn’t always perfectly precise—sometimes you remove more than intended and need to add filler back later.

Adding more filler: For asymmetry where one side is underfilled, adding product to the deficient side can restore balance. This only makes sense if the technique problems that caused the original asymmetry won’t be repeated.

Combination approach: Sometimes the best result comes from dissolving problem areas and then adding new filler more evenly—essentially a do-over with better technique.

For Permanent Filler Issues

More challenging since the material can’t be dissolved:

Steroid injections: Can shrink inflammatory nodules and granulomas. May require multiple treatments. Doesn’t remove filler but can reduce the body’s reaction to it.

Surgical excision: Physically removing lumps or nodules. More invasive but may be necessary for significant discrete lumps.

Camouflage: Adding HA filler around permanent filler lumps to blend them into more normal contours. Doesn’t remove the problem but can improve appearance.

What to Expect from Treatment

The Process

Treatment typically starts with thorough assessment: where exactly are the problems, what’s the filler type, how much product is involved, what’s the overall situation.

For dissolution, the provider injects hyaluronidase into or near the problematic filler. You may see some effect within hours, with full effect over 24-48 hours. Some swelling from the treatment itself is normal.

Results are evaluated after the initial swelling resolves. Additional treatment sessions are scheduled if needed.

Number of Sessions

Minor issues might resolve in one session. More significant problems often need 2-3 sessions or more. Each session is followed by a waiting period to assess results before deciding on next steps.

Timeframe

Plan for a process that takes weeks to months rather than being done in one visit. Rushing leads to overcorrection or undercorrection. Patience produces better final results.

Results

Most men achieve significant improvement. Complete perfection isn’t always possible—some minor irregularities may remain. But the difference between problematic results and corrected results is usually substantial.

Choosing a Provider for Correction

The provider who created the problem may not be the right one to fix it. Consider:

  • Do they have experience specifically with corrections and revisions?
  • Do they acknowledge what went wrong and understand why?
  • Will they take a careful, staged approach rather than rushing?
  • Do they have hyaluronidase readily available and experience using it?

Sometimes the best choice is a new provider who specializes in revision work.

Extremely rare: filler reaching the lungs (pulmonary embolism). If you develop chest pain or shortness of breath after treatment, call 911. Full list of risks and complications →

Preventing Future Problems

If you decide to pursue enhancement again after correction:

  • Choose a highly experienced provider with low complication rates
  • Use appropriate products designed for this application
  • Accept conservative initial results—you can always add more
  • Follow aftercare instructions carefully
  • Report any concerns early before they worsen

Having had a complication doesn’t mean you can’t have successful enhancement. It means the first attempt was suboptimal. Better technique produces better results.

Taking Action

If you’re living with lumps or asymmetry, don’t assume it’s permanent or untreatable. HA filler problems especially are very manageable. Consultation with an experienced provider will clarify your options and likely outcomes.

The sooner you address problems, generally the easier they are to fix. Don’t wait and hope things will resolve on their own—they usually don’t.
